Author Catalogs Who wrote the sleaze and is it any good? Please extend your pinkies while I expound on the literary genre of Sleaze... or my bachelors degree in English will be totally wasted (as I may have been while completing it). Sleaze writing challenges what Terry Southern called Quality Lit by turning its pen to the underside of our world and celebrating the joys of the flesh -- in a sensational, sometimes reflective, sometimes humorous, or sometimes unredeemably exploitative manner. Indeed, while many Quality Lit penmen wrote of the sleazy side of life and soon found themselves being feted with feta in salons -- many desperate paperback-only geniuses were feted only decades later when they themselves were ... rotten and fetid. Sleaze writers were the "Paperback Writer" of the Beatles song -- and have always been a focus of intrigue and attraction for popular-culture. Many were struggling authors hidden behind pseudonyms, others wrote under their true names but remained unknown nonetheless. Below you will find a truly diverse array of talents -- men and women who dare to contemplate the carnal -- in the face of censorship and scorn. I am always looking for more information and would like to fill in their biographies as soon as I can, so if you have any knowledge, please get in touch. I do not know all of these talents and to be certain, a great number may not be talents at all, but nonetheless, they are here included in the family of sleaze -- toiling in front of a typewriter with their hearts in the gutter.
New titles will be added as they become available. |
